The cheers of the crowd around her mostly drowned out the voice of the announcer, the prospect of the coming battle whipping the onlookers into a frenzy of aggressive excitement.  Both combatants were known to be talented, so it promised to be a match worth watching.  Saya was already in the ring, standing about 5 meters off of center.  She had plenty of room to move if she needed, the stone circle that was their fighting space a good 30 meters wide.  A ring of earth and grass beyond that was all that separated her and the proctors from a teeming throng of people.  The sound was overwhelming, so many people cheering at once.

Saya was simply standing there, her expression nearly blank.  There was a touch of interest, subdued excitement for the upcoming exposition, but over all she seemed relaxed and almost disinterested.  She had no desire nor intent to browbeat her opponent with a willful stare-down or insulting sentiment.  Inside her mind she was simply preparing.  She was focusing her mind, steeling her resolve, fixating her mind on the battle that was to be.  She knew well she would need every ounce of her training.  She was young and had speed on her side, but her stamina and strength both paled compared to the toned bit of muscle her opponent could muster.

She was exposed without any of her armor, just a light dress and pair of shorts to protect her from the varied elbows and kicks that were soon to come her way.  She knew by name her opponent was an Akimichi, their name one well known by those who speak of taijutsu.  Their specifics might be unknown, but she knew their reputation for devastating physical abilities, and enough to know she should do all she could to avoid being stuck even once.  Patience would have to be her weapon this time, just as it was now.  This part of the tournament, the endless waiting for the few moments of fun, were almost unbearable.
